We try to explain the different types of Espresso machines, so in the end you can make a decision which one is the best espresso machine and fits best in your budget.
With an espresso machine you can prepare 1 or 2 cups espresso at the time and there are basically 2 types of Espresso machines.
Types of Espresso machines
Steam driven espresso machines
There are two types of espresso machines, the steam driven and the pump driven machines. Pump or steam-driven espresso makers are the two basic types available in the home & Kitchen market. In a steam driven machine, it brews espresso by heating up water until it’s hot enough to boil and produce steam. The pressure produced from this heat forces the steam through coffee grounds until the liquid drips out inside the pot.
Steam Espresso Machines are considered a starter espresso machine. Espresso machines on steam work with steam pressure generated by the boiling water with a generated pressure of about 3 bars to brew the coffee, but they can’t generate enough pressure or provide the precise temperature control necessary to produce an espresso.
Pump driven Espresso machines
Pump driven Espresso machines uses its electric pump in order to inject pressure to the water to go through the coffee grounds. The pressure of a pump driven is more constant than that of steam driven machine which ensures that your espresso will not be bitter. The only disadvantage to pump espresso machines is that they can get quite expensive compared to the steam machines.
If we compare the prices, pump driven espresso machines are a little more expensive than the steam driven machines. They are mid-ranged price machines and the coffee brewed from these is just like coffee you have in all coffee-shops.
If you’re on an extremely tight budget and looking for a low-cost, espresso machine, a steam driven model will provide a somewhat cheap imitation of espresso and will disappoint you. Steam driven espresso machines.
